HOW TO USE THESE TOOLS

This collection of Higher Consciousness Practices is designed as a sequential program. Each of these self-observation tools builds on the insights gained from the previous exercise.

Though you can certainly get benefit by picking any one tool that grabs your interest and working with it, I recommend beginning with Tool #1 and progressing through to Tool #7.

Use all these tools with an attitude of gentle self-acceptance, an unconditional positive regard toward yourself. This itself is a great skill.

FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR EFFORTS:

1) COMMIT: Start with Tool #1 and make a commitment to yourself to do this practice daily for at least one week. I recommend practicing six days a week to realize the benefits of these exercises and to allow one day off, so the practice doesn't become compulsive. After one week, either commit to another week of working with Tool #1 or begin working with Tool #2. Continue like this until you have completed working with all seven Self-Observations tools.

2) TIME: Schedule a time for your practice. Certain exercises need to be done at certain times, such as first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Other than those times you will have to set aside a short period of time on a daily basis for your practice.

3) READ AND RE-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS: You may want to print out these instructions to have with you the first few times that you do your practice.

4) PURPOSE: have a clear intention for your practice. Know what you want to get out of it. This will help you stay with it and help you get the most out your practice when you do it.

5) KEEP TRACK: I highly recommend that you make notes about your practice to make it more substantial and to process the results. The Daily Practice Log is a tool to help you commit to your practice, record your results, and keep you on track.
